Before you choose
How to pick the right code
Your SSIC code tells ACRA and other agencies what your company does. A few minutes now saves a correction filing later.
Describe what you sell, not how
Search for the product or service rather than the channel. An online clothing shop takes the same retail code as a physical one, and a marketplace for other sellers takes a different one.
Make your main activity the primary code
The primary code should match what brings in most of your business. A second, distinct line of business can be your secondary code.
Read the definition before you commit
Open a code’s definition to see what SingStat includes and excludes. Where an activity is excluded, the definition points you to the code that covers it.

SSIC code FAQs
What founders ask us most about choosing an SSIC code. If yours is not here, ask us directly.
What is an SSIC code?
The Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC) is the national standard for classifying business activities, maintained by the Department of Statistics Singapore (SingStat). When you register a company with ACRA, you describe what it does by choosing SSIC codes. Each one is five digits: 62011, for example, is software and application development.
How many SSIC codes can my company have?
Two: a primary activity and an optional secondary activity. The primary activity should be the one that brings in most of your business. Use the secondary activity for a second, distinct line of business.
Two codes both seem to fit. Which should I choose?
Choose the code for your main activity. SingStat classifies a business by the activity that contributes most of its value added, measured by profit or, failing that, revenue. If you sell online, choose by the product you sell rather than the channel: an online clothing shop uses the same retail code as a physical one.
What does “n.e.c.” mean?
“Not elsewhere classified.” These codes catch activities that have no code of their own within a group. Use one only when no more specific code describes your business.
Can I change my SSIC code later?
Yes. You can update your company’s registered business activities with ACRA on BizFile+ whenever your business changes. If you have a company secretary, they normally make the filing for you.
Does my SSIC code affect licensing?
Choosing a code does not give you a licence. If your activity is regulated (food, employment agencies, financial services, healthcare and private education, among others), you will need a licence from the relevant agency as well. Where we know a licence usually applies, the search results say so.
How up to date is this list?
It uses SSIC 2025, the edition ACRA moved all registered entities to on 9 May 2026 (what changed). The codes, definitions and alphabetical index come from SingStat and were last updated on 30 June 2026. We update this tool when SingStat publishes a revision.
Is this an official tool?
No. It is a free tool from Leftright Corporate, offered for convenience and built on SingStat’s published data. Its results are suggestions, not advice: always read the official definitions and confirm your business activities on ACRA’s BizFile+, where your choice becomes official when your company is registered. If you are unsure which code fits, we help you choose as part of company incorporation.
